People I know have been talking about the opening skit at SNL last weekend.
About how stupid iand how particularly unfunny it was.
In case you missed it, it featured the return of Dan Akyroyd who, sitting around a table with a bunch of "Republicans," talked about how they all voted against the Stimulus package and couldn't wait for it to go down. And then they formulated a plan to attack Obama's two daughters.
Listening to it, it was interesting how many people in the audience weren't laughing.
I suppose SNL feels its more important to attack Republicans than to get laughs.
I've got a suggestion for SNL. Now what would have been funny would have been a bunch of comedy writers, sitting around a table, maybe the comedians playing themselves, talking about how they need to come up with a joke, one joke, about President Obama.
And they just can't do it.
One guy says, "How about we make fun of him hitting his head on the helicopter or trying to walk into a door thats really a window?" Another says no, Chevy Chase already did that with Ford.
Another says, "How about we make fun of Obama and Michelle spending the night in the Lincoln bedroom? Obama says, here comes your stimulus package, baby."
Everyone sits around the table in stunned silence.
Then somebody says Obama invites Michael Ayers into the Oval Office but he has to go through a metal detector and then gets a good shake down from Security?
Again, silence.
FInally they lament its impossible. "Hey if Letterman and Leno can't do it..." they say. And then "Live from New York...!"
Ok, ok, I'm no comedy writer. But then, nobody at SNL is either.

Obama in advertently releases secret documents against Steele to the Post, how nice
It's fairly standard for politicians to slime each other. Sarah Palin is just an obvious example of these sort of dirty tricks and its a disgusting trait but still, both sides do it with some regularity.
If anyone out there thought Obama was going to be different in this regard, it looks like our amateur President got caught today with his pants down.
First of all the Washington Post ran a page one, above the fold "expose" on the new Republican Chairman Michael Steele. The headline reads: "Steele's Campaign Spending Questioned"! When you read the article, it sounds bad.
Theres nothing in it illegal or improper, of course and he's paid all his taxes but because he's a Republican, it sounds bad.
It turns out to be a pretty sloppy hit job.
"...Not until you reach well down on the jump page do you learn this interesting little detail: “The U.S. attorney’s office inadvertently sent the confidential document, a defense sentencing memorandum filed under seal, to The Washington Post after the newspaper requested the prosecution’s sentencing memorandum.”
Inadvertently sent what was supposed to be a sealed document to the Post? Yeah, sure, and the Post will sell you the Brooklyn Bridge real cheap, too.
Is anyone in the U.S. Attorney’s office going to lose their job over this? Will the Obama DOJ launch an investigation to make sure this wasn’t politically motivated? What would the Post and others have said if this had happened to, say, Howard Dean, during the Bush administration?"
Change we can believe in!

Obama dozed, people froze
Remember "Bush lied, people died"?
It was the Democrats and the MSM mantra for years.
Well how about this one? "Obama dozed, people froze"...?
Over a million people in the Republican states of Ky, etc are without power. But because they're white and not Obama supporters, well, the hell with them I guess.
It's been about a week and no FEMA, no Federal aid, no nothing.
Over 40 people have died so far and they are still counting.
Whats really interesting about this is...where is the Main Stream Media? Why arent the news media covering this ecological disaster?!
They sure didn't have a problem giving it to George Bush when Katrina hit.
But then, white people dying doesn't really fit the narrative, does it?

Obama's reaction to working with GOP: "My Way or the Highway"
"I won. "
Obama's reaction to Virginia's Republican Rep. Eric Cantor after he proposed modest tax cuts to the stimulus package just passed by the House.
Looks like you can throw bipartenship right out the window now.
And it only took 9 days to do it.
The Democrats so called "stimulus bill" was pushed through congress before anyone had a chance to read it in detail. But they're reading it now.
And the pork is stinking to high heaven. Talk about lipstick on a pig!!!
Obama also suggests that we don't pay any attention to Rush Limbaugh. Well guess whos proposing, via the Wall Street Journal, a very interesting idea?
Let me guess Obama's reaction: I won. My way or the highway.
Unfortunately, we're stuck with this turkey for 4 more years. But hey, at least we made history, right?
The Senate should kill this bill immediately forcing Obama to start from scratch.
The Senate should send this message to Obama: Hey, bub, it's a democracy, not a dictatorship. Presidents throughout history have been "frozen out" and marginalized before. And it can happen again.
Obama won but its no reason for the American people to lose.

Meet the new boss...
Remember when Obama was running for office and he criticized Bush for not going after Osama bin Laden? He said in an October 7th debate:
...“We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority.”
Barack Obama suggested last night that removing Osama bin Laden from the battlefield was no longer essential and that America’s security goals could be achieved merely by keeping al-Qaeda “on the run”.
“My preference obviously would be to capture or kill him,” he said. “But if we have so tightened the noose that he’s in a cave somewhere and can’t even communicate with his operatives then we will meet our goal of protecting America.”
Isn't that what Bush said, while he was puffing on $100 bills, lighting his cigars with his war buddies in the White House?
Change you can believe in.

Eric Holder, Obama's AG, Wants to "Nip It In The Bud"
For anyone who voted for Obama hoping he was either legalize or go lightly on marijuana users...
Surprise!
Or to quote Pete Townsend, "Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss..."
Erich Holder has been picked to be Obama's new Attorney General.
Thats right, the same Eric Holder who as a U.S. attorney in Washington DC, sought to raise marijuana penalties and restore mandatory minimum penalties for drug crimes.
In 1996 as U.S. attorney, Holder said he would seek to make marijuana distribution in the District a felony and reinstate mandatory-minimum sentences for convicted drug dealers.
His rationale? "The truth of the matter is that marijuana is a significant problem for the city," said Mr. Holder in an interview. "Crack cocaine still drives most of the violence in this city, but marijuana violence is increasing. We need to nip it in the bud."
Marijuana violence?!
From the Washington Post in 2000: "The D.C. Council voted yesterday to toughen the maximum penalties for the distribution of marijuana, making it a felony subject to a five-year prison term rather than a one-year misdemeanor....Eric H. Holder Jr. began pushing for tougher marijuana penalties in the District in 1996, when he was the U.S. attorney."
Just a year ago, Obama was quoted with the following: "My attitude is if the science and the doctors suggest that the best palliative care and the way to relieve pain and suffering is medical marijuana then that's something I'm open to because there's no difference between that and morphine when it comes to just giving people relief from pain,” Obama said. “But I want to do it under strict guidelines. I want it prescribed in the same way that other painkillers or palliative drugs are prescribed.”
From his appointment of Eric Holder, I'd say he's changed his mind about that. Or maybe he was just blowing smoke up our...ballots.
Marijuana violence?!
Stay tuned...

Why Are Republicans So Comfortable Being The Minority Party?!
Why is it Republican lawmakers seem so comfortable being the minority party?
For years under Kennedy, Johnson and later Clinton, the Republicans were the "happy minority," content with their role as the loyal opposition.
It seemed things were different when Newt Gingrich promised a "New Contract" with America in 1994. Government really was going to get smaller! Spending really was going to go down! America was going to be America again!
We blew it.
Like pigs at the trough, it's hard to say "no."
We had a real chance to change things but we did not. And now Obama has stolen the concept of "real change" from the Republicans and making it his mantra, used it as his own to ride into the White House.
Details? Who needs details when we're making history?
95% of the people will get a tax break? Just kidding!
And now the Republicans are back doing what they do best...playing second fiddle.
As the Democrats prepare to take over the Christmas gift Bush has left them, a huge pile of money to bailout GM, the auto unions, and God knows who else, at least there is no pretense about not being a piggy at the trough. Democrats have never stood for shrinking, more efficient government. Never.
We can all rest assured the Democrats will pull this country hard to the left until it can't go no more. And then it will snap back. Personally, I'm thinking 4 years of Obama oughta do it.
He smells like a one termer to me.
And already our friends on the left, the ones who use the word "bipartisenship" like a punchline, is just beginning to rear it's ugly head. For example, the Democrats are threatening to go after George Bush after he leaves office.
If this happens, the Republican supporters across the country will quit pretending to "play nice" and the gloves will come off. And you thought Bush's last 4 years were bitter.
But the most important thing is this: The Republicans will very soon have an opportunity here. Americans will soon be shocked at the extent the Democrats will go to tax, spend and ensure their own power.
And if Republicans don't take this time to "re-learn" Ronald Regan's economic principals and take them to heart, if they don't intend to shrink government down to an acceptable size, then maybe being comfortable as the minority party is a good thing.
